Over the last 30 years we have helped thousands of kids in Massachusetts become stronger mentally physically emotionally and socially. Many parents come to me because their child seems to sit on the sidelines, so to speak. They are really shy around people. They child doesn’t make friends easily. The child doesn’t like to participate in sports or interact much with other children.
If they do participate in a team sport they often sit the bench.
This can cause a parent to really worry about the overall happiness and well being of their kids. They wonder if their child will ever make good friends? They worry their child might be lonely …or feel left out. Or sometimes they just want to see their child have some good, old fashioned fun.
In most cases, once a child has ONE good experience with a group of other kids – whether they already know those kids or not, the child’s shyness starts to disappear …and the barriers start to come down. And the more experiences like that the child has, the more outgoing the child becomes.
This reminds of a time a student came into Life Skill. His name is Alex and during his first lesson he hid out under his moms chair. It took us a couple of more lessons to connect and work. With him so he could feel good about himself. Within in a short period of time he was on the floor taking class with all the other students.
Fast forward 10 years later….He became a Life Skill Instructor and is currently attending UMASS. From Shy to Leader. I know that training experience will forever impact his life in a very positive way.
Put your child in a group activity where they move and exercise and have fun. Where the Staff is experts with connecting with all kinds of kids. Where they aren’t single out.
The fact that you are reading this right now really indicates your a dedicated parent. It really indicates that you care. I just want to take a minute to acknowledge you. I want to take minute to thank you – not for watching the video, but, for being an Awesome Parent.
I think you and I can both agree that we live in a pretty good country, and that our kids are the next generation of people that will live in this country. By being the parent you are and by dedicating yourself to making sure that your child really makes the best decisions to be the best that they can be, you’re really making sure that our country is going to be left in the hands of great individuals. That is truly something important.
So, I want to offer you my respect and I want to offer you my support.
Until then, this is Stan Tabor singing off. By the way, if you know anyone who might benefit from hearing this message please feel free to share this video.
